Martha and Larry day 6

img_2887

Martha’s last day in her pursuit of a spearfish would unfortunatly come to an end without the result she was looking for.  With only two seen and one hooked in six days it seemed she was meant to have to return for another try.  Though day six would end with no fish caught it did have a moment of excitiment.  While making our last tact off the light, Tracy spotted a dark spot sailing into the pattern from the outside.  The fish sailed in underneath the long rigger 50 pound outfit, where she then lit herself up from head to tail.  The few looks we saw of her, lead Tracy and I to believe she was at least over 800 pounds.  She made a few attempts to eat the little tiny polukai bullet with no aveil.  In an effort to lure her into one of our bigger outfits, Tracy reeled down the long rigger and teased the fish further into the pattern.  The blue paddled up to the short rigger but within seconds she had sunk out never to be seen again.  Fish like that one remind us why we put in the long hours at sea and why it is we do what we do.
