Caught this blue early. Good to get one right away. Steve came with me today. Tracy is due home from Madeira any day and dad had to fill in for a couple days. Looks like dad still got it making this one look tame.

Early Blue
Friday, November 20th, 2009Sharks One Us one
Friday, November 20th, 2009The tuna are in the porpoise but very hard to catch. They look to me like they have seen a bunch of boats. The bite just started and the tune are acting very funny. They are really careful and will not bite like it looks like they should.Tim Johnson fished with us today and found that you win some and you loose some. We caught the first bite we got on the stick. Finally, a great bite after we watched the tuna roll all over the surface and not bite! After we got settled we had a second bite on our lucky line. This one was a big tuna that really fought hard. After a second hard run we said I hope it isn’t getting chased by a shark. Right then the line went slack and it was gone. A shark ate the lure off and chopped the leader, letting the tuna got free. Bummers!

Gabriella Performs Today
Friday, November 20th, 2009We took the day off from work today to see Gabriella hula. Good day off the water for me. The family days will be back soon. Our schedule usually opens up a little starting Oct. The girls did great!
Nice one Tim
Friday, November 20th, 2009Tim Thomasson came to fish with Rob and I for 4 days. We fished for big fish the whole time which here in Kona can be a bit of a wait. We put our time in and the odd big one being seen and caught kept our attention. The porpoise pods were loading up with fish finally. Boats were getting action, catching between 1 and 3 a day. We were feeling it a little because the tuna finally came and we were trophy hunting. Tim has fished all over the world and really want to try for a big one so we stuck with it. The porpoise came close to us and they were really biting so Tim said we could try to catch one. Rob started clearing the lines when a big hole in the water on the long rigger appeared. The black Polu Kai Tube again!
It was her the one we were waiting for. She was a nice fish and put on a great show. It turned out to be worth the wait and we never did end up seeing the tuna. Oh well. Rob did great on the leader. The fish was strong and really gave him a good pull.
Looking at Boats
Friday, November 20th, 2009After a long flight and a full night of sword fishing we managed to see a bunch a boats. The boats that fit our needs was a 40 foot Gamefisherman named the Lu Lu. It was in good shape and a little bigger and more comfortable. A perfect boat for Kona. Not to big but not to small. We liked it enough to sea trial and put in a offer. We will see where it goes.
