We are at the end of week 3 in these pictures. The painting is going well. Lots of sanding and dust. Here you see the parts we are working on and the hard top being painted with primer. The light boxes are on in the middle shot ready for primer. I was building and priming parts until 12:00 the other night and got stuck in the boat yard. I have to park my truck outside the fence next time I do that. Great week 3. Looking to week 4 we need to get the covering boards finished so we can finish painting the house. Where the paint lines touch anything they need to be done first. Covering boards are next to keep the painters going.

End of week 3
Wednesday, December 16th, 2009Spanish Goat
Wednesday, December 16th, 2009
Bob McGowan hunted with me on an overnight hunt to Delico Ranch. We met at 12:00 in the afternoon and got set up at the house there at the ranch. We were able to get our goat late in the evening when the goats came up the cliff side to graze on the big bluff full of the grass they like for their afternoon feed. We tried for a boar in the late evening but the wind was blowing in the wrong direction for the spot we picked and we didn’t see any. We tried in the early morning for boar and saw a big one but couldn’t get a shot. We went out to see the goats in the morning and headed out around 11:00 where Bob left to catch a ship he was here on doing a semester at sea as an professor of business.
Interior
Wednesday, December 16th, 2009
Week 3 Tracy and I started on the interior. I built and Tracy filled and helped me install everything. We moved some things around and with the new windows in we were able to work on the interior. We had to fill all of the holes that were drilled all over the cabin to put in snaps to hold up curtains that hid the trashed windows. We took out the broken ice maker and put a door back on the closet it was put in. I built another drawer to put the boat back to the original lay out it had when it was built. The added drawer will help with a good tackle area for Tracy. In the entire boat there wasn’t a good spot to rig lures and work on gear until we set this area up. The cabinet is going to be good for storage and the drawers will keep everything organized. By the end of week 4 we should have the primer on in the cabin.
Varnish is done (for now)
Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

Tracy and dad Steve got the varnish all done in week 2. They got 6 good coats on everything so we are all sealed up. We are ready for the painters to start priming. I got the post mixed up here a little but the priming can start now the the varnish is done. We like to get the stripping and varnish done before we paint to keep from trashing the new paint and also to get that nice clean line between the varnish and the paint. The guys did a great job even in some bad weather to keep the ball rolling. In the 3rd picture you can see the new windows bedded in place withthe trim back on. The trim came out so cleanly it really went on well. Time consuming job for sure. Going into week 3 we have the varnish done like we hoped and Mike and Roberto will begin the painting very soon.
The Windows are in
Wednesday, December 16th, 2009

Roberto Martinez of Akazawa painting sprays the primer here after the windows were put in. Mike Akazawa and Roberto got the molded front pieces in and I got the trims put back on so the primer could be sprayed. We are going to prime the trims twice to be sure we get a good seal and the we are really fair. The side windows went in very well. The glass was done by our friend Terry that put them in with me in week 2 and really came through for us to keep us on track. The window trims went on very evenly and really came out great. You can see the other parts we are working on on the ground getting primed ready to get painted under the boat.
Fitting the New Gen Set
Wednesday, December 16th, 2009
Rob Ellyn got the old gen set out and got the new one measured and ready to make the pan that was on the old one fit on ready. It clears the engine room by a 1/4 inch at the top. We went from a 6 kw to a 10 kw to help keep up with the systems. The size 10 years ago was a factor. Now this 10 kw Phaser is small enough to fit in the space we have for it in the engine room.
