Interior

IMG_5180Week 3 Tracy and I started on the interior. I built and Tracy filled and helped me install everything. We moved some things around and with the new windows in we were able to work on the interior. We had to fill all of the holes that were drilled all over the cabin to put in snaps to hold up curtains that hid the trashed windows. We took out the broken ice maker and put a door back on the closet it was put in. I built another drawer to put the boat back to the original lay out it had when it was built. The added drawer will help with a good tackle area for Tracy. In the entire boat there wasn’t a good spot to rig lures and work on gear until we set this area up. The cabinet is going to be good for storage and the drawers will keep everything organized. By the end of week 4 we should have the primer on in the cabin.

Varnish On The Bridge

Monday, November 30th, 2009

Tracy Epstein has been doing varnish with his dad Steve and I for years now and is going to be doing a bunch of the varnish work on this job. He has gotten very good with the prep and the brushing. We all will be helping but for the majority of this job but he will be in charge. We got all of the varnish stripped and now we are working on sanding it to get it ready for stain and varnish. The varnish was in fair shape but had never been stripped in 10 years. It was so thick in some spots it was milky. It had broken out in a bunch of spots and been saved. The mahogany is good to stain lightly and doing all of the varnish at the same time help to get a uniform color. It will look too dark at the start but as the sun does her thing on it the wood will drink in the stain and it will season it self IMG_5145 in a few months. We are trying to get a few coats on it so we can start painting the house after the windows go in next week.

Back to Florida

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

I had to finish my hunt and get back to Florida where the Lu Lu  now bought had to get ready to come to Hawaii. Our mission was to get her to American Custom Yachts in Stuart and figure out how to get the tower and the boat on Barney Stolz of Skipper Shippers trailer. We had to get the boat short enough to  get her across the country to San Diego to meet Our shipper Kevin Jones. Tim Bausch and Bausch American Towers help me get the tower cut and the wires out of the chases and I left her ready to ship. It was good to see Tim again. He and Jon and his dad helped us get our tower built and to Portugal for the Pesca Grossa years ago. Barney did a bunch of the leg work with details for loading with Tim and everything that was suppose to make it made it. I only had 3 days to get her apIMG_4923art before flying to Cabo to fish the tournaments. Thanks for all the help guys.

2 Black Hawaiian Rams For Todd

Friday, November 20th, 2009

Today Todd and I went up to Hokukano Ranch to hunt sheep. Pat Fisher of Fisher Outfitters put the hunt together and had a hunter that he took out as well. We hunted the right side of the ranch and Pat hunted the left. We got an early sheep on the way up right off the side of the road, Thankfully the sheep like grazing the shoots on the road and we got a lucky start to our day. Todd and I trophy hunted the rest of the day looking for big ones. Later in the afternoon we found a nice one that Todd couldn’t pass up. We caped the entire 2 sheep to be full body mounted. They should be cool standing together. Nice to get up the mountain.IMG_4909IMG_4912
