A Halloween Birthday

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

The Bergstedt family fished with us today on Halloween. It was Sharon’s birthday and we had a good day at sea to celebrate. We trolled down to the dolphins and fished the tuna stick most of the day. It was poor timing for the traffic. There were a lot of boats there which made it more difficult to fish. After lunch the tuna came up all over the surface of the water. I was able to get a few shots as they slowly cruised around on the surface eating little fish off of the top. They are such a nice family and did so well on the boat because the fish were there and the boats left we stayed late and got one to bite. Great finish to a long day of watching tuna.

Day Two Tuna Adventures

Friday, November 4th, 2011

The fishing on Day 2 was good. There were fish caught around us and we had fish under us all day. We had an early strike and fought the fish for an hour. The swivel came up and we were reaching for the leader and the main line broke right in the guides. It was a strange place to break the line but with the pressure from all the fish from the day before maybe something happened to the line we didn’t see. The birds dove from above and ate most of our chum. A storm was on the way and the birds knew it. They ate most of the chum and the bait we sent out got stolen every time. It was really hard to fish. The tuna fed at times really well but we couldn’t get a bait to them. We finally got bit on a live bait down deep late and fought it into the darkness. That fish chewed through the leader so on day 2 we struck out. With weather coming we knew it would probably be our last day for a few days.

Cheney Gets a Nice Ram

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

Cheney came over from Florida to visit Kauai and set up a last minute Sheep hunt. We had a half day to try due to the the flight schedule from Kauai to the Big Island. I thought we would have a good chance to get on the sheep in the afternoon but when I saw he brought his bow I hoped we would have enough time. We found a few good herds and worked hard on them. The 3rd herd let us get close Cheney made a perfect shot from 29 yards. I watched from 65 yards and it was a beautiful stock and shot. Turns out we did have enough time

Rabinsky Day 5

Saturday, July 9th, 2011

Today we went back the the grounds Mat had a trip on the 37 so Capt.Brian Balencio filled in with us today. We trolled up and didn’t get any bites. We changed over to bait early and caught a nice blue on our first set of baits. We marked a bunch of fish down deep that looked like ahi. We stayed on top of the marks and caught a second big one. The first blue around 500. It had the same short measurement as our fish in the Firecracker Open. 112 inches short. The second was a bunch bigger but was probably just under 600. Jake caught the biggest fish of the trip to cap off a great 5 day charter. 6 blues and 5 tuna.

Nice Blue

Today return customer Ron Rudrud fished with us. We finally got a big fish to stick. After numerous shots at big ones it felt good to finally get this one to stay on. We actually missed him once and got her stuck on the second try. Ron did a great job angling and the pictures speak a thousand words. Mat did a great job on the leader and it really felt good to get a nice one.

Bad Luck

Check out this beetle that got stuck on the barbed wire fence. With the big winds we have this beetle bit the dust when he got stuck on the fence. Sorry for the blurry picture.

Return customer Brett Tessier came back to try for a big one this week. We gave it 3 days and didn’t get the big one but caught some good fish to eat. We enjoyed our time with them and look forward to the next trip.
